Services

What are the nearest public transport stops?

Bus (AMAT)

  • Enrico Albanese Stop: Since you are at number 60, you are just a few steps away from the local bus stops along the street.

    • Line 721: This is very convenient as it passes directly through Via Enrico Albanese, connecting you to the Croci/Libertà area and the Acquasanta neighborhood.

  • Piazza Crispi (Croci) – 4–5 min walk: A major hub where many lines (such as 101, 106, 806) pass, connecting you quickly to the Central Station, the Stadium, and Mondello beach.

  • Via Libertà / Politeama – 7–9 min walk: Here you can catch the most frequent lines (like the 101) which run across the main axis of the city every few minutes.

Train & Metro

  • Giachery Station – 8–10 min walk: This is the closest station (Anello Ferroviario). It’s very handy for reaching the Port area or connecting to the main rail network at Notarbartolo.

  • Palermo Notarbartolo – 15–18 min walk (or a short bus ride): The main station for the airport train and connections to the rest of Sicily.

Daytime Options:

  • Shuttle Bus (Prestia e Comandè): This is the most recommended option. Get off at the Via Libertà / Piazza Croci stop. From there, the apartment at Via Enrico Albanese 60 is just a 5-7 minute walk. The ticket costs approximately €6.00.

  • Commuter Train: Take the train from the airport to Palermo Notarbartolo station. From there, you can take a short taxi ride (5 min) or a local bus (Line 102 or 106) to Piazza Croci.

Nighttime & Comfort Options:

  • Taxi / Private Transfer: Available 24/7. The fare to this area typically ranges from €40 to €50. This is the fastest way to reach the property entrance directly.

Authentic Local Dining

  • Trattoria da Pippo – A true local institution. It’s simple, unpretentious, and serves classic Palermitan dishes like pasta con le sarde or grilled fresh fish. Just a short walk away.

  • Trattoria ai Cascinari (Via d’Espinosa) – If your guests don’t mind a 10-minute walk, this is one of the most authentic spots in the city for traditional Sicilian recipes in a rustic setting.

  • I Beati Paoli – Located nearby, this restaurant offers a slightly more refined take on Sicilian tradition but remains very much rooted in local flavors.

Street Food & Quick Bites

  • Nino u’ Ballerino – Famous worldwide for his pane con la milza (spleen sandwich). It’s a bit of a walk toward Corso Finocchiaro Aprile, but it’s the ultimate local street food experience.

  • Borgo Vecchio Market – Just a few blocks away. At night, this area comes alive with small stalls selling stigghiola (grilled skewers) and panelle. It’s very raw and authentic.

  • Bar Lucy – Perfect for a morning granita and brioche or an afternoon arancina. It’s a classic neighborhood bar where locals hang out.

Pizza & Casual

  • Tredicisette – An excellent pizzeria and restaurant very close to Via Albanese. They use high-quality local ingredients and have a great atmosphere.

  • Pizzeria Polleria d’Agostino – Ideal for a casual takeaway pizza or roasted chicken, very popular with families living in the neighborhood.

Host’s Tips for Guests

  • The “Aperitivo”: Tell your guests to head toward Via Isidoro La Lumia (5 mins walk). It’s the heart of the local nightlife with dozens of bars for drinks and snacks.

  • Breakfast like a Sicilian: Suggest they try a “Brioche con Gelato” or “Granita” at one of the bars on Via Libertà.

  • Opening Hours: Remind them that locals usually eat dinner late (after 8:30 PM) and many traditional trattorias close on Mondays.

Guide for Dimora Albanese

  • Essential Apps to Download:

    • Moovit: Best for real-time bus and urban train schedules.

    • Google Maps: Reliable for walking through the city.

    • EasyPark: For blue-zone street parking (plentiful in this area).

    • Free Now: To call a taxi in minutes.

  • Water & Sustainability: Tap water is safe. You’ll find several mini-markets on Via Albanese and nearby Via della Libertà.

  • Dining Like a Local: Restaurants near you (Politeama/Libertà area) open around 7:30 PM or 8:00 PM. Don’t miss the aperitivo in Via Isidoro La Lumia!

  • Exploring on Foot: You are in a prime location. You can easily walk to the Politeama Theatre and the Port. Wear comfortable shoes for the historic stone paving (basolato).

  • ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone): Good news! Via Enrico Albanese is outside the ZTL. You can drive here freely. However, be careful if you drive towards the Cathedral or Maqueda, as you will enter the restricted zone.

  • Safety: The area is very safe and elegant.
